make netbeans like nano in c

So I have been using netBeans for a java class for college and I have grown quite fond of it. I am also in a C class and our code needs to compile in nano on my OSX Terminal. I hate using nano in terminal, especially when I am used to netbeans, and the settings I have been working with don't let my code freely transfer to nano.

How do I create a c project in netBeans that complies like nano?
